SeaTrees Sea House Encinitas: Bringing a New Home for Ocean Culture to Life Through Print
When SeaTrees opened its new Sea House in Encinitas, CA the nonprofit set out to create a permanent home for ocean culture in San Diego—a place where the local community could connect around ocean conservation, education, and surf culture.
Dedicated to restoring and protecting coastal ecosystems around the world, SeaTrees supports projects ranging from kelp forest and coral reef restoration to mangrove conservation. The new Sea House brings that larger mission to Encinitas through a welcoming gathering, education, and activation space where the community can attend film screenings, talks, concerts, board swaps, conservation events, and other ocean-centered experiences.
To help bring that vision into the physical space, SeaTrees partnered with us here at L+L Printers. Bringing the Sea House Brand Into the Space
The Sea House brings SeaTrees’ global mission home to Southern California
Creating a physical space for a mission-driven organization like SeaTrees meant thinking beyond traditional signage. The graphics throughout the Sea House needed to help create an environment that felt cohesive, welcoming, and connected to the organization’s identity.
L+L Printers produced and installed a variety of graphics throughout the new Encinitas space, including:

The Sea House project demonstrates something we love about large-format printing: print doesn’t have to simply communicate a message. It can become part of the environment itself.
Exterior window graphics can establish a sense of place before a visitor ever walks through the door. Custom wallpaper can turn a blank wall into an immersive visual feature. Etched vinyl adds texture, branding and privacy to glass surfaces, while interior signage and graphics can help guide visitors and reinforce the organization’s story throughout the space.
For community, hospitality, retail and event spaces in particular, these details can work together to turn an ordinary physical location into a recognizable brand experience.
At the Sea House, that environment now serves as the backdrop for an active calendar of ocean-focused programming, including film screenings, conservation conversations, surf-culture events and community gatherings.
A Local Project With a Larger Mission
Sea House may be located in Encinitas, but the mission behind it extends far beyond North County San Diego.
SeaTrees works with restoration partners around the world and has collaborated with organizations and researchers supporting marine restoration and biodiversity. The Sea House provides a physical place where those larger conversations can connect with the local community.
It’s also deeply rooted in Southern California’s surf culture. The space hosts recurring SURFER events and has partnered with the Rob Machado Foundation, among others, bringing together conservationists, surfers, scientists, creatives, and community members around a shared connection to the ocean.
For L+L Printers, being part of the project meant contributing to a new space designed to serve the same local community we’ve called home for decades.
