Large-Scale Printing Case Study: Hotel Del Coronado for Ice House Museum Graphics Installation

L+L Printers had the pleasure of collaborating with Gina Petrone, Heritage Manager at Hotel del Coronado, to produce and install graphics for their new Ice House Museum.

Built in 1889, the historic masonry structure originally served as the ice-making center for the entire island. Today, the renovated building hosts the Ice House Museum, which functions as the hotel’s history gallery. It features permanent exhibits and rotating displays that showcase The Del’s fascinating past.

L+L Printers’ large format printing division employed a wide range of materials and techniques to bring the museum to life. Large-scale printing highlights included the following:

• • “Legendary Guests” photographs printed on nano gloss photo paper for a high-quality finish.

     

  • Movable walls printed on 3M IJ35C adhesive-backed vinyl, to allow for dynamic displays.

     

  • Historical photographs printed on 3mm PVC and mounted with French cleats of varying thicknesses to create depth and visual interest.

     

  • A Marilyn Monroe selfie spot printed on 6mm PVC, providing a durable and visually appealing feature.
    
    
  • A museum entrance sign digitally die-cut on etched adhesive-backed vinyl, adding an elegant touch to the entrance.
